Users encountered widespread technical issues on Tuesday with Meta’s Facebook and Instagram platforms. Many users faced difficulties accessing the social media services, including being unexpectedly logged out of Facebook. When attempting to log back in, users were met with error messages like “Something went wrong. Please try again.” Error reports surged just after 10:30 a.m. ET on Tuesday, with Downdetector receiving over
500,000 reports by 11 a.m. Instagram users also reported that their feeds were not refreshing. The outage extended to Meta’s Messaging platform and Threads, its Twitter-like app introduced last year. Meta’s parent company representatives have not yet responded to requests for comment.
